How to choose a marketing agency in Tashkent: 10 criteria

How to choose a marketing agency in Tashkent: 10 criteria

Agencies are almost always chosen on two things: price and portfolio. Both are misleading. A low price often means templated work and a revolving door of junior staff, while an impressive portfolio is easy to assemble from other people's cases.

Below are ten criteria that help you understand who you are dealing with before you sign a contract.
1. They start with strategy, not a price list

A strong agency asks questions first: what are your goals, who is your customer, how are sales doing now. A weak one immediately sends a price list for an "SMM package" and ads. If the first meeting is about tariffs rather than your business objectives, that is a warning sign.

2. They show relevant case studies

What matters is not the number of cases but how close they are to your task. Experience promoting a coffee shop says little about the ability to launch a medical clinic or a residential development. Ask for examples from your industry or an adjacent one.

3. They will name real results

"We increased reach" is not a result. A result sounds like this: we lowered cost per lead, conversion rose, this many deals over the period. If an agency only talks about likes and views, it probably had no impact on the client's money.

4. They are transparent in reporting

Ask in advance how and how often you will see results and which ad accounts you will have access to. A good agency gives you direct access to the analytics. A bad one sends a pretty screenshot once a month with no figures you can verify.
5. A clear team and clear responsibilities

Clarify exactly who will run your project and who is accountable for results. A common problem: an experienced account manager sells the deal, then the work is handed to an intern. It helps to have one responsible manager you stay in touch with.

6. They ask uncomfortable questions

An agency that agrees with everything and promises it all at once is more dangerous than one that pushes back. Professionals tell you honestly what will work and what will not, and are not afraid to talk you out of wasting budget.

7. They do not promise impossible guarantees

"We guarantee first place on Google in a week" or "100 leads in the first month" are red flags. A serious partner talks in forecasts and probabilities, not guarantees, because results depend on the product, the price and the client's own sales team.

8. They work under a contract with a clear scope

The contract should spell out exactly what the work includes: how many pieces of content, which channels, what deadlines. A vague "marketing management" with no detail later turns into arguments about who was supposed to do what.
9. They do their own marketing

Look at how the agency promotes itself: its website, social media, publications, reputation in search. If a company that sells marketing cannot do it for itself, that tells you a lot.

10. They are easy to work with

This is an underrated criterion. You will be working together for months, discussing setbacks and changing plans. If even at the negotiation stage they reply late, get confused about what was agreed and dodge direct questions, it will not get easier later.

Questions to ask at the first meeting

  • Who specifically will work on the project?
  • Show me a case from my industry and its results in money.
  • How and how often will I see reporting?
  • What will you propose if there are no results after two months?
  • What is included in the price and what is billed separately?

Conclusion

A good agency is not the one with the prettiest website or the lowest price. It is a partner who understands your task, is honest about the risks and is accountable for results in money, not in reach.

Spend a little more time on the choice up front — it is cheaper than switching contractors in six months and starting over.
